When you stop and think about what God has done for you, it’s mind-boggling. He has done so much for us all. But it’s easy to go through our everyday lives and overlook blessings from God. From good health, to a pay raise… or even the small things like an unexpected discount on a common everyday purchase. These things are easy to overlook and take for granted. James 1:17says that “EVERY good and perfect gift comes from above.”
But obviously the biggest and most important blessing of all is salvation. Think about it… The God of heaven and earth sent His only son to die for us. Jesus took the punishment for our sins. So often we overlook thanking God for this. I mean, we do when we’re first saved. And sometimes think about it during communion. But how often in your daily life do you thank the Heavenly Father for sending His son? I know I need to make an effort to thank God more often. Even for the small things in life.
So we were singing this song in a worship service recently at Brownsville. The words to the pre-chorus and chorus really jumped out at me. I actually felt them hit me.
The song says,
I’ll remind myself of all that You’ve done…
And the life I have because of Your Son.
Love came down and rescued me
Love came down and set me free
And I am Yours.. I am forever Yours
Mountain high or valley low
I sing out, remind my soul
That I am Yours… I am forever Yours
I challenge myself and us all to remember the Lord’s goodness to us more and more… To take time every day to literally give thanks to the Lord.
With that being said, listen to Love Came Down by Brian Johnson, and give thanks to God!
